Hugs

Have you hugged someone? On the weekend members of our church experienced tragedy, which made me realize how lucky I am to have a healthy, happy family. We never know what will be thrown at us in our life time. So I like to take the time to tell and show my kids how much I love them.
Last night I watched the movie My Sisters Keeper, by myself I might add. Maybe not the best idea. I bawled not just teary eyed but full on sobbing and tears flowing down my cheeks. How does a family deal with that hurt and loss? Lots of times if I've watched or read something that makes me appreciate how thankful I am, I go and watch the kids while they are sleeping. Last night I couldn't resist picking up a sleeping Spencer just to have a snuggle. I tell you this because sometimes it takes a movie or some bad news to remember that it's not all about the clean house etc. Take the time to snuggle with the ones you love.
Please pray for the families I mentioned. I'm not going to use names but they could use your prayers.

Nothin' really going on

No mouse sightings in a week so I guess we caught it.
Kids are doing great.
Taylor's hearing seems to be where it should be. Although everythings is still loud but I think that is out of habit.
Other than that nothing new to report.

Must become a better blogger.

Mouse Tails

Our little mouse ate the peanut butter off the trap by the piano but did not get trapped. But I did find a mouse trapped in the garage after dropping Taylor off this morning. Who knows if it is the same one or not. I thought the one in the house was bigger but my view of it might not be accurate as I was freaking out. Bringing in a cat might not be such a bad idea.

All's good

Taylor's surgery went well. She wasn't scared to be put under, no crying before or after, from her that is. The only issue we had was when we first got to the floor and Taylor saw the kids wearing the hospital jammies that opened in the back. She then didn't want to put the jammies on and told me that we didn't need to be there because she was all better and could hear now so we could go home. Funny kid. She has mentioned that she can hear better. There is still some blood coming out of one of the ears. But she is doing great and hasn't complained that Spencer's screaming is too loud. Although the first time he screamed, once we were home, she looked at him as to say what the heck is that all about.

Last night while hanging out with Nathan and talking to my MIL, I saw a mouse run from behind the couch. Of course I screamed. In our old house we had mice in our garage but they never found their way into the house. Sometimes the door from the garage into the house doesn't get closed properly so I think it snuck in yesterday. We've set a bunch of traps but haven't caught it yet. Maybe it snuck back out yesterday when I freaked out and made a quick trip at night for traps. Yuck mice! Needless to say I did not sleep well last night at all. Please let us catch it soon. Just waiting for the snap. Time to clean up the bonus room before our mouse friend makes a home in the toys.

Tomorrow

At 11:45 tomorrow Taylor will be having tubes put in. Not a big deal surgery but a big deal for a little girl, who is pretty nervous about it. We have to be there by 9:30 and of course no eating after midnight, and midnight to 7:45 only water or apple juice and then after 7:45 nothing, no water, no toothpaste(didn't know that one). So another thing she isn't too pleased with. As I type this the tv is blaring downstairs so I pray that tomorrow's procedure helps her with her hearing. Please say a little prayer for her to help calm her nerves.
Thank you to everyone who has asked about everything and cared about what is happening. And thank you to my mom who is taking the boys for the day. I hope you won't be too tired come the end of it.
I'll be sure to post after everything is all said and done.

I'm such a slacker

Wow lately I've sucked at blogging. I really need to get back to it.
Before I go on I have another sales pitch. Taylor is now selling English Bay cookie dough. 3lb pails for $10 and $12. The $10 pails are chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, candy (m&m's I think), ginger molasses, double chocolate and shortbread(2.4lb pail). The $12 pails are white chocolate macadamia, chunky chocolate, chocolate chip macadamia and chocolate chip pecan. If you are interested in helping Taylor out with her fundraising and enjoying yummy cookies, please let me know. I have to take the orders in on the Thursday the 26th.

Anyway now that I've said my pitch on with how we've been doing. Taylor's tube surgery is on Friday and we are so glad  it is happening. We can't wait for the tv and radio to be at a normal level. She is pretty scared about it but we've tried to do what we can to put her mind at ease. I'm sure I'll be a basket case. And before I get comments about it being just tube surgery I know it's a simple surgery but when you're kid is put under and they are scared it affects the parents too. And I get very emotional. Shocker I know.

That's all I can think of that is going on right now. Hopefully I'll be better at the whole blogging thing.

Where have I been?

It has been about a week and a half since I posted. I hope you'll all forgive me as I was sick last week. I didn't even get to enjoy my birthday dinner. So I must have been pretty sick because I normally don't give up food for anything. Mmmmm my Mom's are so good. Sucks that I missed them. Next year. I'm feeling much better. A wee bit tired but that could be from the lack of sleep because Chris has been on this crazy course. For the first 3 days he only got around 6 hours of sleep. Starting at 8am and not getting home till 4 am and then back up at 6am. Yikes! He's still on the course this week and won't be home at all tonight. So he left at 6:30 this morning and I don't know when we'll see him next. I don't know how single parents do it.

Anyway I feel like I have lots to write about seen as I've missed posting. Halloween was good. Quinks was sick and so missed out on trick or treating but did not miss out on the candy. He had a fever on Friday and then by Saturday evening he was running around. I think he was fine with the no trick or treating when we brought candy back for him. Thanks to my dad for watching Quinten so I could still take out Taylor and Spencer. It sucks that Chris missed out. Next year he'll be with us. Taylor was a pirate, Quinten dressed up the day before and he was a vampire, and Spencer was a monkey.

Sad Quinks come trick or treating time.

Spencer wanted his face painted too until I actually put the make up on. He wasn't a big fan.

Some of their stash. Spencer was fast asleep already, probably in a sugar coma.

The halloween howl 10k run was fun. The weather was somewhat yucky and I have been quite the running slacker over the last few months. But we managed to pull off a decent time. The race was the kick in the pants I needed to get running again. You could dress up for the race and I dress up as a patient.

There were a lot of laughs and Roxanne loved watching everybodies reactions. I even heard a couple of ladies say "Oh no we're behind the butt. " And one older man wanted to be behind the butt. Not sure how to take that one. It was fun all around.

As a side little point. Taylor is selling poinsettia's for gymnastics and we have a certain fundraising goal we as parents have to reach. If you would like to help us out by purchasing 1 or some please let me know. They are $12 each and come in red, pink or white. If you are from Edmonton we could figure out how to get them to you.

Anyway because of the being sick I now have a major messy house so off I go to clean up the disaster.
