A day of nothing

It's Friday. Race day is 2 days away. Tonight we are going to the package pick up fair thing. I love going to those. Getting free samples, looking at the different vendors, getting free samples. Oops I said that already. What can I say I like free stuff. Who doesn't.

Looks like the weather is going to pick up for Sunday which is good not only for the race but for the sanity of our family. The kids are going crazy being cooped up inside. So therefor mom goes crazy too. A family nap might be in order.

Good luck to Kristen, Jordan, Mom, Dad (all in Ottawa for the marathon and half marathon) and to my Aunt Beth, Irina and Leigh ( all doing the Calgary marathon runs) and Rox (doing the Abbotsford race for water half marathon). If I've missed saying good luck it's because I don't know you are doing any of these races.

Race supporters

Is this something you like having? I know I do and I like to support as well. It kind of makes me sad that half my race supporters will be at their own race across the country. But I know they'll be supporting me from there. I can find comfort in the fact that lots of people have supported me and continue to support my running hopes and dreams. My favourite race supports will be there cheering me on and that is what is most important to me.

My question to you is do you like having people come out and watch/support you?

I will admit I do and I love the signs that some people make. Even though they aren't for me they inspire me during a race.

Here's to no pain

1 week today at this time, I will be finished the Subaru Half Marathon. I have to confess that I normally get all caught up in what my time will be and what other's times are. Not this time. Ok I do still want to live up to the people who can do a half in 2 hours or less but not this race. In the past during training my knee has acted up which results in a painful, not great time, finish. So far this training session I've felt nothing. So for race day I will be taking it a slower pace as my goal is not a time goal but to finish pain free. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself.

We've got another one

Runner that is. Every year, since I was a kid, we have done the Mother's Day race. This year Taylor and Quinten wanted to run it. Taylor ran 5k and Quinten ran 3k. I wish I hadn't been running the 10 so I could have seen them do an awesome job. We were hopeful that Taylor would run the whole thing but knew that being 7 she might have to walk. We'll she, actually they both, blew us away. Chris had Taylor set the pace and she ran 5k in 36:43. That is a great time but especially for a 7 year old. My opinion at least. And for Q to do the last 3k keeping up with her is amazing also. Chris said people were amazed at what they were doing. They had lots of comments.

I love that they are interested in something that I love to do. Not everyone loves running but it is a love of mine. Taylor has joined the running club at school and wants to do more races. She actually asked if she could run the 10 with me next year. They both have some races coming up so we'll see how she does. They'll be out running me soon, although that isn't hard to do.

So that's my little bit of a brag post.

Next up my own running desires.

I know, I know

It's been awhile. I've been struggling with what to post about over the last couple of months. I've written a bunch of posts, saved them as drafts and then deleted them. You see my struggle is this, telling about what is happening in our lives but not making it sound like I am bragging. Or boring or that it is all about us.
My kids have done some amazing things lately but do I post it and make somebody else feel bad because I am proud of them and want to post about it?
Do I post about my running in hopes that someone out there won't think I'm bragging about myself? But if you don't always post things then people don't know what is happening in our lives.
Any thoughts out there?
