After calling health link about Quinks' tummy pain, vomiting and fever they called an ambulance. I totally didn't think it was necessary but I guess they need to cover their butts. Paramedics came, mean while I'm totally embarrassed that they came for what seemed like nothing. Told me to take him to urgent care, where they did a urine test and throat swab, even though he didn't have a sore throat or show signs of a throat infection. That doc was wacko. Seriously we went in with vomiting, fever and pretty bad abdominal pain not a sore throat. Anyway the urinalysis came back showing blood in his urine. Told me to re collect, the urine, over the next couple of days and maybe an ultrasound should be done in a week or so. But who knows, those were the docs words. I asked about it as we were leaving and the nurse didn't seem satisfied with what the doctor told me and said we should be concerned with a 3 year old having blood in his urine. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to have him seen at Children's if the vomiting and pain continue tonight. That being said we spent the night in the ER to find out that what ever is causing the vomiting/pain/fever (the flu or cold they said) is what is causing the blood. We still have to collect the urine samples for the next couple of days and probably next week see ol' Dr. J for a follow up test to make sure the blood is gone. Hopefully Quinks starts to feel better soon. I hate seeing my kids so sick and helpless. I know he's sick when the nurse was asking him about star wars and he didn't even care to do his Yoda impression. MAybe in a few days Yoda will be back.
Crossing my fingers that we don't have anymore of that kind of excitement around here. The plan will be to lay low. On the plus side Taylor is feeling way better. Woohoo!

Poor Quinks!:( Hope he feels better soon!
Poor, sweet Baby--and Momma! I'm praying he is all better very, very soon.
Poor Quinks. Hopefully this will all be over soon. I know how heart wrenching it is to see your child in pain. Sickness is never fun.
Yuck, hope he feels better soon. Walker had blood apparently in his urine once, and nothing ever came of it, he was fine. I called Health link once, and while they can be very helpful, I ended up needing to take my kid to the ER anyways...
My guess is he did a throat swab because the pharynx is a common site for bacterial invasion. So even though Quinten doesn't have a sore throat the infection, if there is one, may be in the throat, or there may be an infection in the tonsils, since they are a mucosal associated lymphoid tissue. However, I'm not a doctor, so it's just a guess.
Poor guy, hope to hear good news from the unrine samples next week!
