Do I look like someone who can't parent? Maybe to some but I think I do a pretty good job. So why is it that when I'm right there with my kids others feel the need to parent them. Especially with things we let them do. I know I'm not a perfect parent but seriously let me do it. I could go on and on but I won't. I'll just leave it at that and wait to hear what some of you think.

As a side note I 2 really good runs this week. Yesterday's was especially good because Taylor came on her bike. Loved that time with her.

We also found out today that Taylor has an appointment with an ENT Doctor the middle of August. Hopefully we'll get some answers regarding her hearing.

Was it someone you know who did that? Or a stranger? Either way it sucks, but I'm just curious.

Apparently you don't look like someone who can parent (judging by the many experiences you've had), but that doesn't mean that you aren't a good parent. I mean, I don't look like I could fight off a grizzly with my bare hands...but it doesn't mean I can't. (ok, bad analogy because I'd get my ass kicked, or ripped off, by the bear...but you're a good parent and you just have to trust that instead of the strange people that like to think otherwise.)

Oh, I hate that too--it's like, "Um....I'm standing right here...."

Kirsten, there is nothing I hate more than people telling MY kids what to do. Declan was being his normal self, saying hi to everyone in the store when an old grumpy lady in a wheel-chair said "Hi!...Tell your sister to sit down!" I was ticked! Sure Maya was standing in the back of the cart but I was only inching around the store and I had a close eye on her. I mean REALLY! Mind your own business. It probably ticks me off even more when it is someone I know telling my kids what to do. Sista, you are not alone!

My rule is that if we are at another person's house then we follow their rules. So, if one of my kids is asked to do something or not do something then that's the rule in that house. I want them to respect and listen to other adults. But at our house they know the rules and we expect friends to follow those rules in our home. Make sense?
As for friends and family who butt in at inappropriate times I get annoyed but do try to be polite about it.
As for strangers...that is another story. Numerous times a stranger has given my kids heck for things when i am right there. I have told people to mind their own business lots of times.
