Nosy Ladies!

So there I was in line at Safeway, when these 2 ladies came up to me and began to explain to me that my son should not be sitting in the cart. He was really tired, so therefore was cranky and they took it to mean he was unhappy because he was laying to the side. The older lady tried to tell me he was too young to sit up in the cart like that. And the younger lady was making me feel like a bad mom because her baby was younger but bigger and she wouldn't do that and there are germs you know blah, blah, blah. I just nodded and said uh huh alot. Man mind your own business ladies. Anyway we had a nice day today. It started off with Joy and I gyming it up. It's good to start the day with a workout. Then off to Great Grandma Gerry's for lunch. It was nice for Grandma to see the kids. Then home for naps and quiet time. I mowed the grass. Although I suck at it. I can't seem to mow straight. Maybe I won't have to fo it again. Chris wants a nice lawn so I'm not sure I am the person to care for it. I actually enjoyed doing it though. Then Tuesday night dinner and now blogging. And somewhere in there of course is laundry. I have a new goal to finish it by the weekend. If all goes well, no poop or pee, it will be done.
I again have no poop story to tell except that I have changed alot of them today. Man how many times can one kid go.
On a different note, we had to move Quinten's bed down to the last notch. I found him standing in his crib 3 times today. I don't think he would fall out but you never know. Maybe someday
I will fill you all in on what happened yesterday. Maybe once I stop feeling so bad. Let's just say stairs, not a good thing. I know it happens to everybody but you still feel bad. Anyway I will wish all the readers a goodnight. Goodnight!

Argh! Don't you hate it when other people tell you how to raise your kids? What nerve!

You are NOT a bad mother because you put your tired child into a grocery store cart. The kid is NOT going to die in some sort of 10 cart pile-up Safeway disaster nor from a crazy cart bacteria. They are nosy women who have nothing better to do than to call other people bad mothers in order to make up for their lack of mothering confidence.
I'm sure all mothers (and fathers, and aunts and uncles and grandparents...) feel horrible when kids fall down the stairs. But it's true...it happens. In fact, I'm sure many a child has had to be taken into a doctor or a dentist because of a stair fall...as adults we also fall down the stairs (or, if you're me, up the stairs). It's how we learn to be more careful...or do we really ever learn????
I hope she's ok (i'm sure she is)

Thanks everybody for your encouraging words. Some of you may be thinking it was Taylor that fell down the stairs. Nope it wasn't. Poor little guy. Glenda you're right. I felt worse than he did. He is okay and now we know to watch him at all times.

By the way, I have to take responsiblity for Tammy falling down the stairs when she was 7 months. Mom told me to close the door to the basement, but being the procrastinator that I am, I didn't do it before Tammy had a chance to explore the stairs herself. Sorry Tammy!

I get lots of looks from people in Walmart when I put Gabrielle in the big part of the cart - she likes standing up in there and looking around. Sometimes when she's cranky and wants to run around, I'll put her in there because she has a bit more freedom. It's not like I'm going to push the cart so hard and fast that she'll fall down and split her head open. I DO know how to take care of my child - thank you very much!

I would have asked those ladies you ran into what it's like to have perfect children, since they obviously must, or else they wouldn't be sharing their vast knowledge with a complete stranger!

meh...they're so soft at his age that he can only bend...plus, he has all that built in girth. i bet he didn't feel a thing.
i guess you really know you have a "mover" now.

Kirst, how many times have i told you to put up the gate so that Chris doesnt fall down the stairs... he's just a little guy and could seriously hurt himself

Every day I feel the pain. It hurts in my shoulders, in my back, and sometimes when I least expect it - in my gums too. I remember the fall, especially the first one. It was turn after turn, like a ball rolling down a hill. Sure the brace that the doctor placed on my back helped a little, but nothing will ever take away the emotional scars. How can one recover from such horrible sibling rivalry?

To be honest though, I don't remember either time I fell down the stairs. I do, however, remembernot having my two front teeth for about 5 years. I always asked Santa to bring me my two front teeth for Christmas though. It wasn't long before I got them. Kirsten, you're a good mother so don't beat yourself up over it. Babies may look delicate, but they heal and they never remember things that happen at that age anyway.

Quinten will grow up to be a strong and healthy boy, just like I did. I mean, girl, well you know what I mean!

Hugs!!

You just have to do your thing, what do you say though when they are going on and on hey! It's funny, at wal-mart they make announcements about not placing your child in the big section, I know they are trying to protect themselves but sometimes it is the only thing that will calm a cranky toddler is to let him sit in there.
